THE SMALL STONE HOUSE
The small stone house is the upper house. It is situated two terraces above the big house at quite a distance to preserve the privacy of each house. Sitting at the terrace you can enjoy the island landscape, the view to the sea and the peace and quiet of nature. The house atmosphere is warm; it is designed to be comfortable, light and sunny, and has a fully equipped kitchen with oven to cook a proper meal.
The houses were built completely by local stone masons using the traditional technique that is still preserved in Tinos and using stones that were extracted from the plot or come from the local quarries. The interior decoration and building of furniture, floors and paintings was made by us!

The small stone house has one bedroom with a double bed and a kitchen sofa which is big enough for one more person to sleep on or big enough for two kids. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas oven, fridge and all the necessary utensils to cook and prepare food. There is one bathroom with shower, toilet and sink as well as some basic essentials such as eco-soaps. The kitchen opens to a terrace with garden sofas and dining table. There is also another terrace in front of the house facing east with a great view to the sea and the sunrise!
There is a vegetable and herb garden with all seasonal vegetables and herbs which the guest has access to and there is a communal barbeque and outside kitchen area which is shared between the two houses.
There is a communal washing machine in the Utility room next to the houses which is also for the guests to use.
Around the plot there are beautiful nature trails through the terraces that lead down to the beaches or up to the mountains. The nearest village with shops and restaurants is Steni 2km away, where there is also public transport to and from Tinos. In general if you want to explore the island a car is essential. Public transport is not so good with only a few buses to limited destinations. Tinos is a big island (200 square kilometers), more than 100 villages and lots of nice beaches to visit, so renting a car is worthwhile. Some rental companies from which you can rent online are Dimitris rent a car and Vidalis rent a car.
The area is a unique forested area with oak trees, by a stream with big platanus and a lot of vegetation, very unusual for Tinos and the Cyclades in general. It is surrounded by rural terraced land with olive trees, lemon trees and other fruit trees, small stone stables for the sheep and pigs, pigeon houses and small churches. Its totally unspoiled and pure. The plot orientation is East so the sun rises directly from the sea! There are two beautiful beaches only 2km away, Santa Margarita and Lychnaftia, a 20 minute walk downhill.
