Sonali, Angela
We have just returned from a fantastic 12-day stay at the smaller of Marilia’s two stone Ecolodge houses, and it was everything we could have wished for – serenity, peacefulness and natural simplicity in a harmonious environment with a stunning view of the sea. The small house, which has one bedroom, is lovely – pleasingly designed, calm, clean and perfect for two people, and the location is second to none: to be able to watch sunrise over the Aegean from your bed, have breakfast on one of your two terraces, eat dinner made with organic local produce on the other and swim at the clean, unspoilt, empty (in April) local beach in between, untroubled by the sound of cars or machines, is a rare kind of luxury.
Marilia and Nikos have realised their vision with thoughtfulness, excellent aesthetic judgement and an impressive attention to detail. We were glad to support the ethos behind Ecolodge – sustainability and symbiosis with nature – which they have developed in many different ways. If you’re looking for a place full of gadgets, a television, hot power showers on demand and lots of nearby clubs and bars then this is not the place for you. But if you appreciate tranquility, beauty and good people creating imaginative, ecologically sustainable alternatives for tourists, which support the local community without harming the environment, then do consider staying at the wonderful Tinos Ecolodge.
